Default Cold Air Intake Vs. Short Ram.

Hey im looking into buying either a cold air intake or a short ram intake. is there a huge difference between the two and will i notice a difference. Im thinking either a Injen CAI or the K&N short ram.

If it were me, if go with the AEM CAI. The new reservoir tank is much better. Also it's easier to install.I think anyway. That's just my opinion though.

Short ram intake is far easier to install and maintain. You don't have to replace the OEM washer fluid bottle, there is no removal of the wheel or bumper to install, and the difference in power between the two is minimal, provided the SRI you buy has an enclosed casing.

Also when you need to clean/replace the filter, an SRI is far less headache.

The only short ram I have found with the heat shield is the k&n. Does anyone make them.

NGM is a very well known brand. Seems to get very good reviews too.

If you are going with an intake, I would go with a short ram, but honestly I think intakes are overated.I ran my stock intake with an upgraded 18g, I didnt even remove the silencer, my newest setup Iam still using stock tubing.
Take out the silencer and drop in a K&n filter, or put a cone filter on the end of your stock tubing.
With the money you save pick up an 02 housing and really free up some horsepower, or put the money towards a flash.

P.S. I have a brand new k&n drop in filter you can have for 30 dollars if you decide to go this route

Easiest and cheapest way to get more power from your intake is to replace the stock 2.0T filter box with the 3.8's, remove the carbon filters and put a 3.8 drop-in K&N in. You get the same effect as a Short Ram but you still maintain the forced aspiration that the OE setup gives.

Don't buy Injen, they won't handle Canadian warranty claims directly and force you to go through the vendor that you bought it from, which in turns costs you a LOT more. They're also not warranty approved like the AEM intake is.

I have an AEM and if I was to do it over again I'd probably get the K&N, I love my intake but it's a b*tch to clean the filter because it's so hard to access.

The moment you get any intake it's going to do that...
