I also have no check engine light on, and my pedals were unobstructed by my floor mats.

It could be the T.P.S (throttle position sensor).
we dont have a cable driven throttle so its definatly in the electronics.

Scary man. That's a safety issue, ensure the words safety and accident are mentioned many times when you report that to the dealer.

Let us know what happens.

Hey Leo... i was googling your issue. Found an interesting theory. what kind of wheel setup are you running in the winter?? Read the first post: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2049913

Yeah that doesn't sound good. Keep us informed.

And I don't know about the smaller front tire theory. Sounds like BS to me.

That guys theory doesn't work, the GC has 4 independant wheels speed sensors that if the fronts exceed the rear the front brakes are applied and if the rears exceed the front the rear brakes apply. Independantly though, the car can actually apply full brake pressure to only one wheel at a time, or all four or any combination thereof.
If the front tires are 5% smaller up front it would simply cause the TCS to constantly engage and it would be like driving around with no power (engine cuts power on TCS event) and your ABS constantly engaging.

As for the OP, you deffinately need to talk to your dealership and call Hyundai Canada (1-888-216-2626) and inform them of a throttle control issue causing unintended acceleration, they may ask you to call Roadside (1-800-268-9958) to have your vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Inform them that regardless of whatever the technician finds, you want the vehicles throttle body, accelerator pedal and ECU replaced. If they start debating with you, inform them that you're willing to contact your lawyer and the media.

While I don't want Hyundai's rep to be destroyed (they really have worked hard to rebuild it), I also don't want to come back online one day to have a message left by one of your friends saying you got hurt or killed by your GC.

Ya get that into the dealership asap! I bet its either your TPS or your throttlebody is dying.

Sorry, that's my fault.. didn't look at the date.

Though I find it hard to believe that your tires had anything to do with unintended acceleration. I'll talk to Hyundai about it when I go in to pick up my stuff.
