Default gasoline problem

Hi there! Tonite i just watched tv .The tv show said the differcent of 87octane to 91octane .They said is no differcent....I using 91octane...

I run 91 in my 3.8 coupe. I don't need to as I'm not tuned yet either. I do it because I really hate the 10% ethanol they put in the regular gas. Once I get tuned then I'll need to run premium. Our cars can compensate for the higher octane so yes you will benefit from it.

To add to what BHbomber said: the benefit that we get is a bit of extra power if your not tuned.

But as for that TV show they clearly dont know what theyre talking about or you didnt understand what they were saying. There is a big difference between each octane rating some benefits are Increased MPG (typically not much of an increase, also depends on your driving style), smoother throttle response, reduced risk of knock and ping and with the 2.0T (not sure about 3.8 but most likely) you get an overall increase in the powerband.

Man its been a while since I have been on here. Long story short, if your tune only advances timing based on 87, you will not see any gain using higher octane.If your tune is based off of higher octane , then 91 you will see an advantage.You might see a slight advantage in the hottest days of the year to run 91.Using 87 octane in really hot weather might trigger Hyundai's conservative knock control and retard timing.
